Hunkpati Investments Finishes First Round of Entrepreneurship Class
Last Thursday night was a night of celebration on Crow Creek as six entrepreneurs finished Hunkpati Investments’ first entrepreneurship class. Using the Indianpreneurship: A Native American Journey into Businesses curriculum, this class met twice a week for six weeks and graduated 75% of its starting class. It covered numerous topics related to entrepreneurship, including business financials, taxes, hiring, and marketing. In addition to discussing many business fundamentals, entrepreneurs also produced business plans for their businesses. These business plans can, in turn, be used for funding opportunities and for helping entrepreneurs operate their businesses effectively.
Executive Director, Krystal Langholz, had this to say about the class, “The dedication that these entrepreneurs have shown throughout the class is really unbelievable. I very strongly believe they have the potential to be a positive ray of hope throughout their community, and I was privileged to work with them.”
Entrepreneurs, their families, and Hunkpati staff celebrated the end of the class with a community potluck. A new round of classes will begin June 29th.
Hunkpati Investments was founded in 2009 by a committed board of local community members in order to provide financial opportunities to stimulate economic development on the Crow Creek Sioux Reservation, promoting self-sufficiency, self-determination and an enhanced quality of life for the reservation community.
